The company was originally founded in 1997 under the name Wipcore. In 2007 Wipcore and ClearCloud merged under the name Wipcore to become the e-commerce market leaders in the Swedish region regarding both e-commerce platforms and consulting.  In January 2009 the consultancy part of Wipcore was separated and changed name to Brightstep AB.
